At 52 years young, DJ TygA has more energy, ambition and gusto than most people in their 20s and after 30 years as a DJ, producer, and pioneer in the underground dance music scene, he has travelled and played internationally, coast to coast from Japan to Spain to Brazil. Known also as the Beatmaster, DJ TygA can play any style of electro music, depending on the audience because ultimately, his sole mission is to get the crowd up - Dancing. Feeling. Enjoying. So DJ TygA plays anything from techno to lounge to minimal, with influences of groovy jazz, soul and bumpin' funk, and he also plays all types of events, from weddings to fetish parties.

 

As a DJ, TygA is versatile, multi-faceted, passionate, but perhaps more importantly, he's a downright humble and friendly guy who encourages DJs of all levels to befriend him and be candid in asking for advice. His love for the music means he believes in sharing and lending a hand to those who share this love. « I want to be accessible with people. DJing is about sharing stuff. I share my love for the music with you, who should want to share with me your passion for what I play. »

 

At a very young age, his musical passion was fueled by his grandfather, who is a trumpeter. TygA grew up with influences of classical music, which now amplify him as a DJ and add substance to his tracks. « I learned about the music first. I learned the notes, I learned how to talk to the piano, the bass. I know the values of the violin. It's very important to know the value of the note because as soon as you do, you will see that you will be able to give that little minus in the bass, that little plus in the middle and that little less in the heights that will give you the perfect sound. »

 

After globe-trotting the world and playing venues like Pacha club in Spain, Manifest in Denmark and the Kazantip festival in Portugal, you'd expect that his most memorable gig involves a huge crowd, a world-renowned venue, and the euphoria of an exotic city, but it couldn't be more to the contrary. His most recent memorable performance happened at underground music club Passeport in Montreal in October 2013 – for his birthday bash. « I was playing dark techno, 130 beats per minute and it was going hard. I heard something and I said, « What's that noise? ». And I look, and I saw people looking at me and I heard people going, « Bonne fête TygA! ». My whole body was shaking. It's not how big the venue is, it's what the people give me back. And that is the first time in my life that that's happened. I think that was one of the best because emotionally, it gave me a great pleasure and I was just happy to be there. »

 

DJ TygA is tireless when it comes to music, always striving to envision fresh sounds and beats to keep him going. In 2014, he is throwing his spirit, his ambition and his passion into a project that will help aspiring DJs who don't have the opportunity or resources that DJ TygA had in his youth to book venues, play gigs and break into the industry. « I will not book you as a superstar. You pay the trip out there, I give you the lodging and I give you the gigs. And with the gigs, I will make sure that you can pay your ticket back and then you can have some spare money when you go back home. Because when that kid will have this experience, the first thing you want to do is to work harder to be better for next time when you go out there. » This electrifying venture, titled 'It Feels Like OHM' will take place in the spring and summer of 2014 in exciting countries that are flourishing with the underground sound, like Spain, Holland, Germany, Sweden, and others.
